Hunting Island Light

This light house is located on Hunting Island State Park, South Carolina. It is open to the public to view and climb. It is unique because it is constructed of curved cast iron plates bolted together. This was done so that it could be disassembled and moved. Light houses have frequently been built in places that were eroded by the sea. This light has been moved one time to it's present location. When it was assembled here the interior was lined with brick to make it more stable and weather worthy.
