Hurricane Creek Park

Hurricane Creek Park is a new place to ride in North Alabama. It is open, but still under development for 2005. Check it out and e-mail me to let me know what you think about it. I have not been there to ride. The photos on their web site look great.

The park has a new web site up. The URL is

Here is a copy of an e-mail I received in early February 2005 from John McCrary who is the manager of the Hurricane Creek Park:

My name is John McCrary, I am the manager of Hurricane Creek Park in Cullman, AL.

I want to let y'all know that we have several miles of new trails that are in various stages of completion. We have technical single track and easy to moderate wide track with many bridges and scenic views of waterfalls & cliffs. The park is in a 500 foot deep canyon.

HCP was privately owned and ran as a day hike / picnic area for over 40 years. In 2003 the park was donated to the State of Alabama Department of Wildlife & Fisheries and is operated by the City of Cullman Parks & Recreation.

We would like to invite you to visit us and see what we have to offer. In addition to MTB, we have primitive camp sites (platforms), rock climbing, hiking & picnic areas. We are also listed on the North Alabama Birding Trail.

Admission to the park is $3.00 for adults, $2.50 for 17 & under. The admission price includes biking or climbing. Camping is admission + $10.00 per site per night. Waivers must be signed for biking & climbing. The park is open year round, Tue. thru Sat. 9:00am till 5:00pm, Sunday 1:00pm till 5:00pm. We are closed on Mondays. Our phone number is 256-734-2125

We are located on highway 31 north in Vinemont (Cullman County). We are about 2 miles south on 31 from exit 318 off I-65.
